Onze visie
In large parts of Kenya, daily life is under pressure—not due to lack of effort or desire, but because of circumstances that have built up over generations.
🌱 Lost knowledge, depleted soil
Many farmers have become dependent on agricultural methods that exhaust the soil. Traditional, healthy farming knowledge has been lost over the years. The land becomes poorer, harvests shrink, and costs rise.
Chemical pesticides sometimes seem like a quick solution, but the hidden cost is high: they kill not only pests, but also the soil life that actually brings fertility.
🍽️ 1 in 3 children is chronically undernourished
The effects are visible in families:
insufficient food security
children not getting enough nutrients
lasting developmental delays
families trapped in cycles of poverty
If children cannot grow, an entire generation cannot flourish.
💔 Farmers who cannot make ends meet
For millions of families, farming is the only source of income. When a harvest fails or the soil becomes sick, the whole family suffers. And as pesticides and chemical fertilizers become more expensive, there is nothing left to invest in the future or education.
🌾 A system that creates dependence
The current agricultural system makes farmers vulnerable: dependent on costly products, dependent on unpredictable rainfall, and dependent on knowledge that they often can no longer pass on. But it doesn’t have to stay this way. There is another path—a path that restores rather than depletes.
The Problem: Why the Amani Center is needed
There is Hope… and that starts with restoration
We believe that agriculture is not meant to bring death, but to bring life. That God created the earth so that life produces life when we learn to work according to His principles. With the Amani Center, we want to make a difference exactly at the source.
We restore knowledge.
We restore the soil.
We strengthen families.
We build communities that can sustain themselves.
And we do this not from a distance. We walk alongside our trainees throughout the entire growth process of the land. From sowing to harvesting, we stand with them—listening, serving, and encouraging. In these daily steps, we get to share and testify of our Hope, of the Light that drives out darkness, and of a perspective that reaches beyond today.
So that children can grow. So that farmers can harvest again. So that families have a future. So that hope can take root, and life once more produces life.
A center of Light, Hope & Growth
We believe that when you live from love, service, and justice, light breaks through the darkness. The Tree of Life Amani Center is being developed out of the desire to create such a place—a place where people are nourished, not only physically, but also spiritually.
The words from Isaiah 58:10-11 guide us. They speak of a life in which you share what you yourself need, where you are generous to the oppressed, and in doing so, light rises in the darkness. We long for the Tree of Life Amani Center to be such a beacon—a light in a region often marked by barrenness and hopelessness. A place where people are refreshed, where strength and restoration flourish, where God leads and provides.
As described in Psalm 1:3, we want the people who come here to be like trees planted by flowing water—rooted in faith, nourished by hope, and fruitful in their calling.
The Tree of Life Amani Center can be a source that never runs dry: a place of peace, nourishment, and training, where people grow—for themselves, for their community, and to the glory of God.
Isaiah 58:10-11 (NIV) “If you feed the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, your light will rise in the darkness, and your darkness will be like the noonday sun. The LORD will guide you continually, he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
Psalm 1:3 (NIV) “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
OUR MISSION: Build on hope, feed with faith
Together, we believe that God transforms lives and that we get to participate in His plan for the people of Kenya! 🌍
